well it looks like going twins on the 98 too, got a good deal on a HP Performance twin turbo kit, now I just gotta figure out how much hp a stock t-45 is good till, I'm betting not much so it may be on low boost till I get that swapped out

A t-45 is basically a t-5 with a modified bell housing so my guess would be 400 tops depending on how you drive it. Maybe even a little more if you went with a stock style clutch that will slip a bit more. The 3650 is a little better, but will require some modifications on a 96-98. On another note please tell me you plan on putting pi heads/intake on that motor?

thats not good news, I went thru 3 t-5's in a year with the 86 gt (twin turbo car) and finally threw a 3550 in it and its survived for 4 yrs or so now but it didn't have drag radials on it at the time, with the nitto drags I don't even launch it high rpm in fear it'll blow that one apart too. If the t-45 isn't much stronger than a t-5 i'm gonna have to run really low boost on this 98 till i can get at least a t-56 viper spec in there.

When researching it all had read everywhere that the teksid blocks were the strongest aluminum blocks to be had (apart from going dart or other aftermarket) and also have the 4 bolt mains instead of the terminator (03/04 cobra blocks) that are 2 bolt mains, I have heard some guys refer to them as 6 bolt mains vs 4 bolt mains, but when they do that they are counting the side bolts that bolt into the mains. Concensus is the teksids are fine up to 1200hp and beyond, some have been modified to handle 2500. At any rate I'm pretty sure this t-45 is gonna be the first thing I gotta take out of this thing then, I was hoping they were gonna be stronger than the t-5's, I know the strengths of the T-56 and viper spec versions from researching them for my fox bodies, so that'll most likely be what I'll use, wanna stay stick I know autos are more consistant/faster et's in the upper classes but this will be more of a fun street car and wanna have the stick in there for the fun factor too |

Alright, well then you will be tapping out your transmission faster than you think because even at 8lbs you will make close to 400 rwhp if not more. The 03-04 cobras have 2 bolt main caps, but the block is cast iron and the mains are pretty beefy so even with two it holds up the same as the teskid block if not better. If you have changed pistons and rods in that teskid block you will be good to go because that is the weak link in those blocks. As long as you dont have the windsor block you are good to go because those engines were notoriously troublesome.

Yeah, the teksid block ( is what I did the build around, not the much weaker WAP aluminum block, (which is only good till 700 hp or so they say), here was a cool link on the teksid discussions http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...m-block-1.html , from what I've read the past couple yrs the teksid is stronger and lighter than the termi blocks, and one guy summed it up well, not because of the material, but because of design, and the extra bolts on the main help prevent cap walk, I would agree with that guy in that discussion that the reason ford used the iron block in the 03/04 cobra was because all they had at the time was the WAP (FORD) aluminum block, it was costing too much for them to keep the teksid blocks around, since they were outsourced to the same company that was making blocks for ferrari. Either way i'm sure the termi blocks are very stout and would handle anything I'd throw at em, but I wanted to save the 80 lbs and had read the fastest modulars in racing use the same teksids season after season and swear by em, so that was what convinced me to keep my teksid and have it sent to DSS to have it built around that. whats funny is, I'm not gonna be able to use much of that capability for a while it looks like, if the t-45 is only good as my t5's were, and after researching also saw the fuel system is only good till around 380hp with forced induction or 420 give and take a little if it was n/a, i was planning on only running 5lbs a boost till i get these issues fixed, but not sure if the 2 tial 38mm wastegates will boost creep over that, got delta gates on the 86, about at low as i could ever set that to was 7 lbs |

don't be, buy a kit, they make em for the 2v's too and they love boost
, actually some of these used kits are getting pretty affordable, if ur goals were say 400hp to pep it up a little its really not all that expensive, (well compared to when I got the 86 into the turbo scene 7-8 yrs ago) lol, but if you decided to buy a kit new someday be very careful who you buy it from and do the research, I could write a 30 page book on all the bad fly by night companies i've seen out there.

What fuel pump are you running? Just the stocker? What injectors do you plan on running? I currently have a kevlar in the 347 I just picked up it is a nice clutch.
